MonaLisa Touch
MonaLisa Touch is an FDA approved CO2 fractional laser that is specifically designed to treat symptoms of vaginal atrophy such as burning, itching, dryness, and painful intercourse. These symptoms are common among naturally menopausal women and also among women who are menopausal due to surgery or chemotherapeutics, such as for breast cancer treatment. The MonaLisa Touch is an alternative to estrogen or SERM medications. It is especially appealing for women who cannot take estrogens for various medical reasons, or for whom medical therapy has failed to treat symptoms related to vaginal atrophy.
Through the use of special vaginal probes, the MonaLisa Touch allows CO2 laser energy to be applied directly to the vaginal walls. The laser energy induces collagen production and revascularization of the vaginal mucosa, revitalizing the vaginal walls to a pre-menopausal state. Studies have shown maximum benefit from a series of three treatments spaced approximately six weeks apart, though our patients have reported improvement, literally within days of a single treatment.
