"Is it Baby Blues or PPD?" Understanding Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMAD) Registration
This 90-minute class is offered every month and is designed for new parents and expecting new parents. It educates families about the difference between baby blues and PMAD before, during and after pregnancy. The course discusses postpartum depression and anxiety by examining the physiological and social components that shape these conditions. In addition, we will learn the basic diagnostic criteria and guidelines to assess someone going through the baby blues or experiences the beginning of a PMAD.
- Understanding the various ways that the physical, emotional, and social changes influence the experience of pregnancy and new parenthood
- Discussing the risk factors related to perinatal emotional distress or developing a PMAD
- Identifying whether you, or your loved ones, are experiencing the baby blues or the beginning of postpartum depression or anxiety.
- Learning coping strategies when dealing with baby blues
About the Instructor:
Dr. Christiane Manzella is a Senior Psychologist at the Seleni Institute. Dr. Manzella earned both a master's degree in Clinical Psychology and doctorate in Counseling Psychology from New York University. Dr. Manzella has extensive experience as a clinician, administrator, and professor of psychology, and has been in practice for more than 20 years..
Classes are held in the offices of Spring Ob/Gyn at 135 Spring Street, 2nd Fl. All classes are $200 per couple.
