Basic Infant and Family Care for Busy
Parents-to-be Workshop:
In this one-night accelerated couples workshop for a small group of new parents or parents-to be, you will learn how to care for your baby and how to constructively manage the normal emotional strain that comes home with your bundle of joy. Using a unique combination of experiential exercises, video, demonstration, role play and lecture, you will learn and practice how to strengthen your family and improve the quality of your infant's life by creating a warm and loving household for the three of you. You will learn how to perform the following skills, demonstrated by research to effectively prevent postpartum depression, increase relationship satisfaction and support your baby's optimal development:
- How to perform basic infant body care: diapering, dressing, feeding and bathing
- How to transform the mundane chores of basic infant care into loving and security boosting interactions that are peaceful, confidence building and stimulating for all of you
- How to read and respond to your infant's cues and signals
- How to respectfully open the channels of communication between you and your partner to allow for the expression of the full range of your feelings during the profound transition to parenthood
- How to share in your baby's care and play
This workshop is for COUPLES ONLY. Couples will receive two texts to take home with them: And Baby Makes Three by John and Julie Gottman and Your Self Confident Baby by Magda Gerber.
